Weather getting freaky in Ireland !
Heavy winds and rain overnight, so it was no surprise to wake up this morning to see a Servere Weather Warning in effect, including a Tornado Warning! See: TORRO - Severe Weather Forecast
A little unbelievable, were it not for 2 minor tornado’s on Cork last week, See: RTE
What cruel person would leave 2 dogs outside all day in that….. erm, sorry lads.
Heineken Cup Final, rip-off prices in Cardiff!
So, I’m off to Cardiff for Saturday’s Heineken Cup Final (via a 6:40am flight from Belfast to Birmingham and a train journey to Cardiff).
I collected my €76 tickets yesterday to see I’m in section U5.
A quick look at the stadium map shows these are not great seats, a little too high up; especially for that price.
Then I had a little look at the Ticketmaster.co.uk prices…. For section U5 the Heineken Cup final Tickets are category B, but for regular home internationals they are category D.
£65 vs a regular price of £30.
What a rip-off!

Kindle 3.1 Software update……
Promises Page Numbers to be displayed if they are present in the eBook … Very Good.
However, mine has updated and the location information has now disappeared.
So, a little reading on the Amazon site, discovers this nugget of info:
“Page numbers and locations are only displayed when the Menu button is pushed. “
Annoying.

End of an era….
Yesterday I finished in eSpatial after 9.5 years.
(Actually I finished on new years eve, but there was nobody else in, so I went in yesterday to say goodbye)
Never easy finishing something that has been such a big part of your life.
My boss wrote on my card “Thanks for the last decade of your life” ….. Which kinda sums it all up.
Anyway, I am joining Workday on Monday, I fly out to San Francisco for 5 weeks training course tomorrow.
Strange times indeed, but exciting and I can’t wait for a new challenge and something new.
Off to pack…
G’ah - Just as I get used to my new HTC Desire, the Desire HD comes out…
Some nice features, like a new 8 MP camera, but an inferior battery would be of concern, especially since it has a bigger screen. (Headphone jack at the bottom is a little odd also)

Funniest Comic I’ve seen in a while….
This has to be the funniest Comic I’ve seen in a long time.

Steps required to get married in a church in Ireland
I’m getting married this day 6 weeks and having gone through all the legal and church requirements, there’s quite a lot and not a definitive list anywhere, so here goes:
1) Attend a pre-marriage course (We did ours in All Hallows College fee is €150), you will receive a certificate.
2) Register the marriage with the births, deaths and marriages department in the HSE (HSE fee €150). You will need copies of your birth certificates, details of bridal party and bring your passports with you. You will receive a legal document to be signed on the wedding day
2a) If your priest is from abroad or not a regular parish priest, you will have to ensure that he is a registered solemniser
3) Got to the church where you were christened and get a new copy of your baptismal cert
4) Go to the church where you were confirmed and get a new copy of your cinfirmation certificate
5) Go to EACH parish that you have lived in since you were 18 and get a “letter of freedom to marry”
6) Go to your local parish priest, presenting the letter and certificates above, as well as a photocopy of the certificate you got form the pre-marriage course
7) Your local parish priest will then complete a “Pre-Nuptial Enquiry” document with you and (if necessary) send all the documents to the church in which you are actually getting married in.
